Kashi is a fairly new player to the scene, but has already managed to make some waves. He is a young, unsponsored player who, because of the pandemic, hasn’t had chance to attend any offline major tournaments. Still, he has already managed to place second in WSOE Online East!

If you had to introduce yourself in three sentences to some SoulCalibur player who didn’t know you, what would you say?

Hello, my Name is Jariel I am a new SoulCalibur Player. I consider myself a friendly/very humble person. Learning is my favorite thing and helping people will never be a problem for me.

What is the origin or meaning of your nickname?

Kashi is Derived from the Naruto character Kakashi.

How did it happened you end up playing fighting games?

I was mostly just a gamer for FPS. I was never interested in learning fighting games or even played them so much. But I was very inspired by SonicFox and their ability to express themselves via Fighting Games and it just made me interested in exploring a different side of gaming.

Who do you main in SC6 and why?

My strongest Character in SoulCalibur VI is Seong Mi-na. I am more confident with her because I know I can rely on all her tools and my natural defensive habits can be rewarded greater with her.

What is your opinion regarding SC6?

My opinion regarding SoulCalibur VI is that the game is very well designed and absolutely fun. I can say way more about this game but most importantly: PLAY SOULCALIBUR VI.

If you could change one single thing about SC6 what would that be?

I would really want netcode improvement. I want to enjoy the game with all my friends or anyone interested in playing but our current netcode is just very inconsistent even with people in the same area. That’s the major thing I would want to change. Besides, they have handled the game Perfectly.

What you consider to be your greatest SC6 achievement and why?

My greatest SoulCalibur VI achievement was to get Second place of the WSOE ONLINE East event! Yes, it was an online event but I was very happy with how I performed and got the chance to fight PartyWolf in finals! While he did beat me up, I learned a lot and consider that to be a milestone of my time playing SoulCalibur VI.

Please answer a single question that you were not asked but you would like to answer!

A tip for anyone interested in learning SoulCalibur is that, just like anything, we all learn at our own pace. You might hear people calling this game beginner friendly and in a way it is true. But don’t get fooled and think it’s just a “I pick it up and I’m the best at it” type of thing.

This game is actually very hard when it comes to learning more in depth mechanics. My advice is to play it and play whatever character you like the most! Unlike other Fighting Games, this one is very well balanced where any character is 100% viable. As long as you keep track of your progress, let it be landing a hard combo or even punishing a move you weren’t before, the SoulCalibur Experience will be great!

The community is very welcoming and helpful. As a very quiet person myself it took me time to realize everyone in this community just loves the game and wants to enjoy it with everyone else, Reach out, come to play and learn with all of us!

Thanks for the interview!

Note: Kashi didn’t want to share any specific replays of his gameplay to not make any of his opponents feel bad. If you wish to see him playing, feel free to visit his stream to watch him live; or check NYCalibur online torunaments (or archives) he attends regularly!
