If you had to introduce yourself in three sentences to some SoulCalibur player who didn’t know you, what would you say?
- Hi, I’m BladedSnake. I’m a SoulCalibur and Tekken player from the Philippines!
- I also play other fighting games, LoL, RPGs and a few FPS games.
- I love Ramen and all sorts of noodles.
What is the origin or meaning of your nickname?
I was thinking up a “cool” name to represent my Tekken Tag 2 Team of Bryan Fury-Yoshimitsu, so i mixed Bryan’s snake theme moves and Yoshimitsu’s sword theme. Blades and snakes for everybody!
How did it happened you end up playing fighting games?
For fighting games, I really loved doing combos. When I performed my very first aerial rave in Marvel vs Street Fighter I was hooked. Competitively, I started in the arcades and tried to pull off the combos on people. Plus I kinda hated losing so i kept playing.
Who do you main in SC6 and why?
My main is Siegfried.
I wasn’t really interested on playing the game on release because the last SOUL game I played was SOULBLADE. But my friends were playing it during our TEKKEN sessions. I was going to pick Voldo but somebody already wanted to. So, to add diversity, I picked my SOULBLADE character, Siegfried.
What is your opinion regarding SC6?
I think the game is in a great spot right now. There is a fair balance between playing neutral, aggressive or defensive. You are also not punished
so much for making a mistake (not counting ring outs lol). With good practice and effort, any player can get into the game and have fun.
Also, I love the character creation but it could be better.
If you could change one single thing about SC6 what would that be?
Honestly, there’s a lot but the biggest problem I have with the game are characters with safe launchers. If we’re able to at least get a plus frame
punish on each of those I’d be happy.
What you consider to be your greatest SC6 achievement and why?
Winning REV Major 2019. It was a pretty big tournament locally and the competition was hot. I got to fight strong local players and there were a few foreign competitors as well. I wasn’t feeling confident coming to this event because I got demoted multiple times on ranked mode preparing for the tournament. Good thing I tried my best and didn’t mess up.
One other contender would be representing Philippines in SoulCalibur Without Borders where i got 2nd place. Just proud to put my country on the map 🙂
