I know what you’re thinking about now: ‘Most ambitious offline FG event in 2021? And with SoulCalibur? He’s got to be kidding!’ Well, the thing is – I am not. WUFL is something we should look forward for.
WePlay Upltimate Fighting League Season 1 will be invitational-only offline tournament that will take place in Esports Arena Kyiv (Ukraine).
The event will cover 3 different fighting games – Mortal Kombat 11, Soulcalibur 6 and Tekken 7 – with prizepool of $50,000 each. Every game will be held on different weekend, with SC6 happening on April 1st – 4th.
So far, we don’t know who the invited players for WUFL S1 will be, but there is still enough time so we need to wait for the announcement. Also, it seems that WUFL S1 is invitational only but for the future seasons, open qualifiers will be held.
You can check WUFL on Wufl web and WePlay Esports web and also on their Twitch, Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit.
Also, vote SC6 to be “most excited for” game for Season 1!
And yes. At first, I was skeptical. But WePlay Esports (formerly WePlay!) is established Ukrinian Esport organization funded in 2012 that was hosting tournaments in Dota 2, CS:GO, LoL or WoT, including Dota Minor in 2020.
Now they are expanding into fighting games. This started last year with WePlay Dragon Temple tournament dedicated to Mortal Kombat. There, they also announced WUFL in quite an spectacular way.
