If you had to introduce yourself in three sentences to some SoulCalibur player who didn’t know you, what would you say?
Fighting games enthusiast. Soul Calibur player. Taki main from Russia.
What is the origin or meaning of your nickname?
I was a big FF7 fan and always liked villain characters. Rufus Shinra was the most stylish, so i decided to use his name and variations. Lately i have been using mostly Ruf1nad.
How did it happen that you ended up playing fighting games?
I remember i played VF2 at arcades with my older brother, it was a first 3D fighting game and it blew our minds. Then PS1 appeared in our life and Tekken2-3, and other fighting games. But mostly we played tekken. Few years after my brother discovered fgc and we entered our first tournaments.
I started as a tekken player. But there were no tekken players in my region, so it was hard to progress in game (back in the days there were no online in games). I found very strong SC player in a neighboring town, we played a lot and my skill in SC grew very fast. I fell in love with this game and since then it is my main discipline.
Who do you main in SC6 and why?
When i first started to play SC (Soul Edge) i used Li Long, because of his weapon (i always had nunchacks at home and knew few tricks). When i started competing in tournaments (late SC3-SC4) i continued to use character with nunchacks – Maxi. But i didnt like his design and i hated his stance based gameplay, so i decided to switch characters.
Taki was my seconadary and i liked everything about her – she is a ninja and she is a waifu. Since then (SC4) she is my main character. Her gameplay is very cool and gives you more freedome then any other character.
What is your opinion regarding SC6?
It was very promising at the beginning. We waited this game for many years and closed eyes on many things that were bad, everyone believed that developers will fix those small things and we will play the best fightnig game ever.
Unfortunately Namco made many horrible decisions regarding balance and gameplay. After all that bs i have zero interest playing that game. Covid and cancelation of tournaments (Mixup in my case) was just a final nail in the coffin.
If you could change one single thing about SC6 what would that be?
It is not about SC6, it is about whole Soul Calibur series. I would like to change developer. It is hurt to watch how Namco treat such a wonderful game like unloved child.
What do you consider to be your greatest SC6 achievement and why?
I dont have any big achivements in SC6.

Q: What do you like to eat for breakfast?
– I like to eat Sirniki with condensed milk. And i’m very good at baking Sirniki.
