Does one need to introduce Shen Yuan? After all his top placements, stream commentary, and much more? Maybe not, but you can still learn a lot about this Singapore OG if you will read this interview!

If you had to introduce yourself in three sentences to some SoulCalibur player who didn’t know you, what would you say?
SC player from Singapore.
Used to be pretty good until I got lazy in SC6 😛
Not sure who I main now.
What is the origin or meaning of your nickname?
A group of friends adopted the “Shen” moniker as a joke. Yuan is my last name.
How did it happen that you ended up playing fighting games?
My dad took me to the arcade and I played SC2. The graphics for its time were mindblowing and it had an epic feel to it.
HONESTLY wish I started with street fighter or a bigger game.
Who do you main in SC6 and why?
Tough question.
It was Siegfried at first because he was my SC5 main and I deeply understood the stances.
Then Xianghua, because she was my main in SC3 and 4 and I liked the way she played in 6. She could play VERY safe and get mileage from small + frames.
Then Haohmaru, because he is so fun.
Now Talim because… well… I don’t know okay?
What is your opinion regarding SC6?
Best iteration of the game.
Will people attend majors when pandemic settles down?
I would!
If you could change one single thing about SC6 what would that be?
I think step 2G is problematic.
At high level verticals become too weak, and many mixups are nullified.
What do you consider to be your greatest SC6 achievement and why?
The first EvoJP! I got top 4.
Please answer a single question that you were not asked but you would like to answer!
A lot of people who play me often feel I have weird and creative interpretations of how characters play! I’d just like to share that. I’m really creative. People really don’t create strategies like me.
Thank you for the interview!
