Incendiate is one of the rising stars of the North America SC scene. His mad Xianghua performance got him multiple TOP8’s already – and Frosty Faustings trophy, too – and one can only assume more will soon follow.

If you had to introduce yourself in three sentences to some SoulCalibur player who didn’t know you, what would you say?
I’m a 21 Year Old Professional Soul Calibur VI Player for @TeamDEUS.
What is the origin or meaning of your nickname?
My gamertag was an idea I had when I was 15 on Xbox, I just think fire is a really cool element.
How did it happen that you ended up playing fighting games?
I started fighting games really young, there was a Soul Edge Arcade Cabinet at my Day Camp. I also played a lot of Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 with my childhood friends and always wanted to be the best on my block and eventually after some years started going to tournaments for Soul Calibur 5.
Who do you main in SC6 and why?
I main Xianghua because she is a very strong, safe and aggressively oriented character who most benefits from high volume of knowledge of frame data which I think I have. I think she’s cool, but she’s not my favorite character.
What is your opinion regarding SC6?
I think it’s the most well-balanced and interesting fighting game out right now and has a lot of depth and unique aspects that keep my playing it regardless of the lack of updates. It’s very fun and very difficult and is an experience, especially offline, I think is unmatched.
If you could change one single thing about SC6 what would that be?
The one thing I’d change about SC6 is probably make it a bit easier to punish whiffed GIs by increasing their recovery on whiff.
What do you consider to be your greatest SC6 achievement and why?
My greatest Soul Calibur VI achievement is probably when I won Frosty Faustings 2022! It was my first time going to a major and just closing it out, which was very difficult even from Winner’s Side.
Please answer a single question that you were not asked but you would like to answer!
One question I wasn’t asked: What do I want to see in SCVII?
I hope the game maintains the movement SCVI has to offer as SC has a history of changing the frame data and mechanics of movement a lot I think in a 3D game the only acceptable movement was in SCVI, and should stay the same or very similar.
Thank you for the interview!
