If you had to introduce yourself in three sentences to some SoulCalibur player who didn’t know you, what would you say?
Hi guys, I’m dad!… I mean, I’m ZER0! haha. I play Soul Calibur VI (sometimes), commentator here and there and professional pun maker! oh yeh, I get food poisoning…a lot.
What is the origin or meaning of your nickname?
The origin of my online name stems from my younger days playing the Megaman X series, with no surprise my favourite character was Zero.
How did it happen that you ended up playing fighting games?
I was inducted at a pretty early age when my uncles and cousins would play games like Street Fighter 2, Killer instinct, Mortal Kombat etc.
Who do you main in SC6 and why?
I have mained Nightmare since the days of SC2 simply because this character is THE coolest character in the series and one of my favourite characters of all time. The blue armour, the intimidating presence, the horrifying right arm all coupled that he wields a huge, chunky and meaty sword with one hand, The character is frightening!
What is your opinion regarding SC6?
I will honestly say, aside from a few issues, SCVI is the best in the series so far! I really like the new mechanics, combos, the visuals, it’s all so dazzling. When you hit someone, you can really feel the impact.
You get a sense of how well-designed each character is and you experience how unique one character is from another, there’s no shortage on how you want express yourself as a player which is amazing.
If you could change one single thing about SC6 what would that be?
There are a few things in this game that are really strong and can be so oppressive that you just don’t get to play the game, which can be pretty frustrating. I am honestly torn between things like Soul Charge, the high damage output, fullscreen RO carry, the netcode, verizontals, safe stepping and TCing moves, but I will say to give Nightmare his old 3K back…I mean improve the netcode! yeh…the netcode (fuck step 2G btw).
What do you consider to be your greatest SC6 achievement and why?
Being part the combined efforts of Team UK (Valoraxe, Myself, Neon, Andyroo, Ssylus and HolyCarp) against Team France (Ganondeurf, Aelz, Kayane, SGT-Jason, Skyll and Pantocrator) at VSFighting will always fill me with the joy and hype we all got to experience together, not just as a team but as part of community, emotions were high, emotions were raw and I feel this every time I look back on it. Go UK!!!
