Style:
Mixups

Difficulty:
Basic

Summary:
Big damage out of easy to use stance and Soul Charge and able to easily approach with tech step moves. Weak oki, lows, and while rising attacks can make it difficult to crack a savvy defense.

Description:
Groh has the unique distinction of being both a quintessential anime protagonist edgelord and  the quintessential beginner character. He features a simple yet effective movelist centered around evasive tech step attacks and his Avenger stance, which leads to a strong mix-up and lots of potential damage. He also has an especially powerful Soul Charge which grants new stance attacks, teleports, and more attacks including a damaging low attack throw. Outside of stance he rewards careful neutral game with good range and frames on quick AA/BB generic attacks, allowing him to get in and work towards the bigger stance mix-ups and powerful break attacks. His limited oki can make continuing pressure difficult, and players with strong defense will not only defend against his stance options but also heavily punish Groh for them. On top of this his weak lows and throw game make it hard to crack the enemy’s guard.

Strengths:

  1. high damage in Soul Charge and stance
  2. effective tech step and approach attacks
  3. strong guard pressure and plus on block attacks

Weaknesses:

  1. weak lows
  2. weak while rising options
  3. high risk Avenger options limits its effectiveness against a strong defense

Unique mechanic:
No other character is so reliant upon Soul Charge as Groh; and probably noone else have such a huge power spike when in this special state.
