Excellent range on standard attacks and the constant threat of Yrden aGI dictates the pace of any fight, but struggles to rush and approach enemies.

Description:
The Witcher series protagonist makes his appearance as one of the most well-rounded characters in the game, with many players joking that he plays more honest Calibur than the actual Calibur characters. Geralt has a short movelist but very usable standard pokes with great range. Bolstering his options are his magic signs, which allow him special attacks at the cost of meter. His kit-defining magic sign is Yrden, an aGI parry that catches all standard attacks and freezes the enemy in place, leading to a combo and huge ring out potential. He also uses his special monster-fighting silver sword to gain meter and trigger powerful lethal hits against enemy Soul Charge. His SC lethal hits and special lethal hit versus enemies with full meter restricts enemy Soul Charge usage and encourages the use of CE. However outside of his great pokes and whiff punishment he struggles at rushing down enemies and fares badly versus long range attacks and other characters who are content to let Geralt come to them.

  3. lethal hits dictate enemy meter usage

Weaknesses:

  1. limited approach/rushing attacks
  2. simple movelist forces strong fundamentals to win
  3. limited LH options if enemy is content to not use Soul Charge

Unique mechanic:
Silver sword attacks (typically input using 4 or 44 motions, or found in other strings) trigger lethal hits or increased damage/stun against enemies in Soul Charge, and build extra meter versus enemies out of Soul Charge. Geralt also has unique lethal hits awarded for landing three, four, and all five of his Signs in a set.
