Difficulty:

Summary:
Great punishment and range with the potential for stacking power through vision powerups. Easily the hardest execution in the game with various just frame and motion inputs.

Description:
After missing out on all the fun (?) in Soulcalibur V, Setsuka is back with a new revenge-fueled story and all the flashy high-execution moves and combos that you could ever want. A key change this time around are new shortcut inputs for moves which cost meter, whereas the difficult/just-frame inputs will gain a bit of meter. For the expert player who can master her many tricky inputs, she has an excellent poke game and some of the best whiff punishers. She also has a couple stances which help her build some pressure on top of her punishment, but her offense is definitely on the weaker side and excels more at blowing up enemy mistakes. While she has three mini-resources to build, the conditions are very plain and will mostly happen throughout the course of normal match without any extra attention to filling them.

Strengths:

  1. long range pokes and punishers
  2. multiple safe launchers and CH launchers
  3. powerful whiff punishment

Weaknesses:

  1. high execution
  2. weak meter gain, especially if relying on easy inputs
  3. struggles to contain enemy movement

Unique mechanic:
Setsuka has three “visions” or powerups available, each with their own visual indicator on-screen. Wintry (blue snowflake) is powered up by hitting an opponent six times and powers up moves from her aerial Wings of Heaven stance. Moonlit (yellow moon) is powered up by whiff punishing or block punishing an opponent 4 times and powers up her 44B+K attack. Vernal (red flower) is powered by counter hitting an opponent five times and powers up her 2143a:B move.
